When it comes to thermal performance of windows and doors, many European countries have already imposed higher U value requirements.
Most of the EU requires a minimum U value of 1.1 metric for a whole assembly. With a plan to increase requirements further in 2021, where U values
will be of 0.9 metric maximum.
Canadian standards historically follow Europe and we will see this again in 2020. Natural resources Canada is set to increase Canadian U value to a mandatory performance of 1.2 W/m2K, for the whole assembly.
